Transportation
Getting to important appointments shouldn't be a barrier. Our Transportation Program provides free rides for Summerland residents to medical appointments and other essential destinations, helping people stay healthy, independent, and connected to the community.
Soup Socials
Join us on the third Thursday of every month (except July and August) for a free community lunch at the Summerland Community Centre (9710 Brown Street, Summerland), from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome!
Each month, a different co-host group prepares and serves delicious homemade soups and fresh buns. For dessert, Brenda and her team at Providence Funeral Home generously provide a tasty cake for everyone to enjoy. This monthly lunch is offered free of charge. While donations are never required, they are always greatly appreciated and help support this valued community gathering.
Come share a meal, connect with friends and neighbours, and enjoy good company!
Visitation Program
Sometimes the best gift is simply spending time together. Through our Visitation Program, volunteers are matched with residents for regular visits and companionship. Whether it's sharing a coffee and conversation, going for a walk, or enjoying a game of cards, these connections help reduce isolation and build meaningful friendships within our community.
Holiday Gift Bag Program
What began as a humble initiative in December 2021 has grown into a meaningful tradition that continues to touch lives throughout our community. With the generous support of individuals, service clubs, and local businesses, we fill festive gift bags with practical items and delicious holiday treats. Just before Christmas, our cheerful team of volunteer "elves" delivers these gifts to residents who may be feeling lonely or isolated during the holiday season.
Some of our volunteers even spread extra holiday cheer by singing Christmas carols as they make their deliveries! Through simple acts of kindness and connection, this program helps bring warmth, joy, and a reminder that no one is forgotten at Christmas.
